When You’re Watching a NHL Hockey Game at Home on TV, Do You Stand for the Singing of the National Anthems?

Variant7 asked:

Like when they show the national anthems being sung before the start of the hockey game (usually the games televised on Saturday nights), everyone in the arena stands to show respect for the anthems.

But if you’re watching the game at home, are you supposed to stand as well? Or, is it not required?

If a tree falls in the woods, does anybody hear it?

    Same principle applies.

Who the hell does that? LOL

LOL. I don’t think its required. When I’m watching it by myself, I just whisper O Canada to myself; however, when with friends, we get all dramatic, and just have fun with singing the anthem.

I don’t stand with them, I only sing with them.

No that is sooo strange. How can it even be required? Is big brother watching us??

  8. TexHabs says:

Not required, but it’s classy to do so. To answer your initial question, yes I do.

I think it is required, I know that I do just to be on the safe side, for the government is always watching you, either through your cable box, tv or computer.

No but I do wear hockey gear while watching a game (joke) Seriously I don’t stand for the national anthem and don’t think it’s necessary to do it. Most of the time I arrive at the channel after the singing. I would if I was at a live game though. I’m not patriotic but I do respect my country.
